Des McLean
as Jiminy Cricket
Des McLean is back at the Pavilion for Panto 2009 after an amazing debut starring as The Tin Man in last year’s record breaking show ‘The Wizard of Never Woz’.
2009 has seen another amazing year for Radio Clyde’s funny man. In March, the ‘House Full’ signs went up at The Theatre Royal for Des’s sell out Magners’ Comedy Festival show. It was an evening of fun with a few surprises along the way – the biggest of all being when Des got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend Alison at the end of the show! Another nomination for a Sony Radio Award followed in May – the third year in a row and the most sought after prize for radio stations all over in the country. Des’s new stand up comedy DVD is due for release in the summer and his autumn stand up tour ‘The Big Chap’ has already almost sold out. One of the highlights this year has been to see Des have three comedy cd’s in the HMV Top Five – the first time ever for a Scottish comedian and an amazing achievement.
‘I just can’t wait to get into my new costume as Jiminy Cricket and meet up with the whole gang again this year,’ said Des. ‘It was a great experience last year and I really loved the chance to get out there and see all my young fans who weren’t able to come along to my stand up shows earlier in the year.’
